The overarching goals in the Meadowlarks class is to meet the needs of each student through a nature-based program. We help with the children's development through age-appropriate experiences that are play based and occur both in and outside of the classroom.
Here in the Meadowlarks, the children begin to learn independence. They learn self-help skills such as putting on their jackets and carrying their backpacks as well as cleaning up after themselves and putting their water bottles and lunch boxes in the appropriate spots.
We help the children with their social and emotional growth. We help them learn conflict resolution and to play cooperatively with others around them.
In Meadowlarks we help the children develop a sense of self confidence and pride in themselves. We encourage them to tell us about what they are working on, and we always allow the children to speak up for themselves and encourage their self-advocating skills.
We strive to help the children develop a lifelong positive attitude about learning, themselves and the world around us.
