For many children who grew up at Earthplace, Jim Hunter was so much more than a teacher or camp counselor. He was a beloved educator, mentor, naturalist, and friend. He inspired curiosity, confidence, adventure, and a lifelong love of the natural world. Again and again, we have heard the same sentiment from those whose lives he touched: Jim was Earthplace.

We were deeply saddened by his passing this spring and will be hosting a memorial gathering in Jim’s honor in the coming months. We will share details as plans are finalized. In the meantime, we invite you to remember Jim with us through the many memories our community has shared. His legacy lives on in those he taught and inspired at Earthplace.
