Our canoe paddles are a great way to spend an afternoon on the water with family and friends! We will travel along the Saugatuck River in search of osprey, egrets, turtles, and more!

You will arrive at Earthplace, then caravan to Saugatuck River. Canoes, paddles and required personal flotation devices are included! 

Earthplace encourages people with special needs to participate in this event. For every trip, one canoe is reserved for participants and families with special needs. Participants must be able to follow directions and get in and out of a canoe independently.

Income-eligible Westport residents are able to participate at no cost thanks to a scholarship program. Please call 203-557-4400 to register and mention this program when booking.

REGISTRATION (Ages 3+ years)

Members: $30 per Adult, $15 per Child (Ages 3-11)
Non-members: $40 per Adult, $20 per Child (Ages 3-11)
Private Canoe Paddle: $300 (Up to 5 canoes available. To book, email Veronica Swain, Director of Nature Programs, directly.)
Maximum of four people per canoe. Minimum one guardian per canoe with children. 

Prepare for your Canoe Paddle

• We highly recommend you can fulfill the 3 Golden Rules of Canoeing Technique before booking (video from CanoeingTV on YouTube)
• Wear appropriate clothing for the weather, including waterproof shoes
• Bring a change of clothes, towel, water bottle and snacks

Upon arrival at Earthplace

• Meet the Naturalist leading the group at the front doors of the building
• You will be fitted for your Personal Flotation Device and paddles
• Canoes will be assigned based on your group reservation (Maximum 4 people per canoe)
• Group will then caravan to the canoe site

Disclosures

-Space is limited and advanced registration is strongly recommended.
-Maximum of four people per canoe. At least one guardian per canoe containing children.
-Due to safety requirements, children under three years old will not be accommodated.

-All sales are final, no refunds. If Earthplace cancels the event, it will be rescheduled or refunded.
