Earthplace offers programs to help Cub Scouts earn the following badges:

Mountain Lion Adventure

Play a Six Essentials-inspired game of charades before heading into the woods for a nature scavenger hunt. Play a game of hide and seek among the trees, then head back to the nature center to meet some of Earthplace’s wild and domestic animal ambassadors.

Program is 1 hour long.

Tigers in the Wild

Join an Earthplace naturalist for a Six Essentials relay race and a walk through the Wildlife Sanctuary to search for natural objects and wildlife. Let the wild and domestic animals at Earthplace inspire your art, and create a bird feeder to help the wild birds that call Earthplace home.

Program is 1 hour long.

Paws on the Path Adventure

Scavenger hunts and relay races are on the agenda to help scouts learn how to prepare for a hike. Join a Naturalist and take your buddy for a hike in the Wildlife Sanctuary to search for wild animals. *Note: Requirement #4 should be completed outside of Earthplace program time.

Program is 1 hour long.

Bear Habitat Adventure

Join a Naturalist to learn about the Earthplace wildlife sanctuary and what it takes to maintain our trails. Scouts will examine the Earthplace trail map to determine a one-mile hike that works for them, then hit the trail after making a “trash plan”. We’ll stop to sketch along the trail and keep a close eye out for animal tracks and signs. *Note: Requirements #1 and #6 should be completed outside of Earthplace program time.

Program is 1.5 hours long.

Into the Woods Elective

What’s growing in our forest? Which trees are deciduous? Which are native? You’ll become a tree expert and investigate our trees through leaf rubbings, leaf examination, burn time, and wildlife use.

Into the Wild Elective

Visit the Wildlife Sanctuary and our ambassador animals to learn about what makes up an animal’s habitat. You’ll create a model of a wild animal’s home, learn how that home may be impacted by humans, and learn what it takes to manage a wildlife sanctuary.

Please reach out if you are interested in coordinating a service project to help your Cub Scouts complete their Citizenship adventure.
