The full-time program is available to Earthplace Preschool students who are age two through age five and runs:
We have eight spots available in our full-time program for Chickadees. These Chickadees are a self-contained group that has a standard pre-school day until 12pm, at that time they have lunch and then settle in for a nap from 1:30pm to 3:30pm but are in a separate group from the nappers as described below.
After nap or rest, the children have a snack and then free-choice time in the classroom or on the playground. The children who stay until 6pm enjoy free choice indoor activities, cooking, science projects, indoor and outdoor learning experiences, and may also play on the playground.
Children attend their respective preschool classes as per their age. For children three years old and up, once the school day is over at 1pm children transition into our Preschool After School Enrichment Program (PASEP).
PASEP is divided into two classes, nappers, and non-nappers. Those who nap do so from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Children who do not nap, have quiet rest time from 3:00- 3:30 pm. Each child has a cot and may look at books, do puzzles, listen to stories and music tapes, or just rest. After nap or rest, the children have a snack and then free-choice time in the classroom or on the playground. The children who stay until 6:00 pm enjoy free choice indoor activities, cooking, science projects, indoor and outdoor learning experiences, and may also play on the playground.
For June, July, and August the children participate in our Summer Camp program.
The full-time program strives to meet the needs of working parents while balancing the many holidays and vacations throughout the typical school year. Therefore, the full-time program is closed on Election Day, Thanksgiving Recess (including the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving), and the Westport school break in December. We close for one week at the end of August for staff training, building cleaning, and maintenance.
